The M.A. InterAmerican Studies / Estudios InterAmericanos (IAS) is an interdisciplinary, regional studies program that focuses on the entanglements between various regions, societies, and cultures in the Americas and the Caribbean. It is offered by the Faculty of Linguistics and Literary Studies, the Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology, and the Faculty of Sociology. The curriculum emerges from Literary, Cultural and Media Studies, Linguistics, History, Sociology, and Political Science.
IAS is an international degree program taught entirely in English and Spanish. It relies on an extensive network of partner universities in North, Central, and South America, and features international guest lecturers, options for a semester abroad, and an optional double-degree program with mobility support. The MA IAS is part of the Center for InterAmerican Studies (CIAS) of Bielefeld University.
